PHILADELPHIA - Hello from Citizens Bank Park, where tonight the Nationals open a three-city, nine-game road trip with a Memorial Day opener against the Phillies. This, of course, is the same Philly club that shockingly swept the Nats last month in D.C., but it's not exactly playing like the same club. After winning a bunch of one-run games early in the year, the Phillies have now lost seven of their last nine games and desperately are trying to maintain a winning record.
The Nationals will try to take advantage of that over the next three nights, beginning tonight with Tanner Roark on the mound. Roark pitched extremely well last time against the Mets (one earned run in seven innings) but was the victim of no run support during a 2-0 loss. He'll try to keep his run going against a Philadelphia lineup hitting a collective .235 with a .291 on-base percentage while scoring only 3.2 runs per game.
Dusty Baker has his regular lineup out there against Jeremy Hellickson, with Jayson Werth back in his familiar No. 2 spot and back in left field, where the fans here surely will be letting him hear it as always tonight and throughout the series...
