Game 92 lineups: Nats at Reds

CINCINNATI - The Nationals have selected the contract of right-hander Jacob Turner, who takes Blake Treinen's spot on the 25-man roster as a long-relief option out of the bullpen. Edwin Jackson is still in line to start Tuesday's game in Anaheim. To create a 40-man roster spot, right-hander Koda Glover has been transferred to the 60-day disabled list.

Turner is 2-3 with a 5.08 ERA in 18 games (two starts) for the Nats this year.

Glover's move to the 60-day DL is a signal that he's nowhere near ready to begin baseball activities as he works his way back from a back issue that landed him on the 10-day disabled list on June 11.

Keep in mind that, with the July 31 nonwaiver trading deadline approaching, the Nationals can clear another 40-man roster spot by moving righty Joe Ross to the 60-day DL. He undergoes Tommy John surgery Wednesday in Arlington, Texas.

Stephen Strasburg didn't pitch in the All-Star Game in Miami, but today he gets a chance to help the Nationals finish off a four-game sweep to start the season's second half.

The right-hander lasted only three innings in a 13-0 shellacking by the Braves on July 8 in his last start before the break. Before that, he'd put together back-to-back seven-inning starts against the Cubs and Mets. He's got a 2-1 record and 5.00 ERA in seven career starts against the Reds, and is 1-1 with a 6.75 ERA in four lifetime starts at Great American Ball Park.

Still, current Reds are slashing .206/.338/.492 off Strasburg. Scooter Gennett is 4-for-8 with a double, three homers and six RBIs. Joey Votto is 4-for-13 with two homers and three RBIs.

The Nats will face righty Scott Feldman, a 13-year veteran who is 7-6 with a 3.94 ERA in 18 starts - pretty much the kind of return the Reds were hoping for when they signed him to add some length and depth to the rotation. Feldman lost his last decision to Colorado on July 5, but had won five of his six previous decisions.

Feldman is 1-0 with a 2.50 ERA in three career starts against Washington, the victory coming June 25 in a 6-2 win at Nats Park. In that game, Feldman allowed two runs on seven hits in seven innings, walking two and fanning five.

The Nats are slashing .311/.366/.544 off Feldman lifetime. Adam Lind is 8-for-23 with three homers and six RBIs. Stephen Drew is 7-for-16 with two triples, two homers and five RBIs. Ryan Zimmerman is 3-for-5. Brian Goodwin and Bryce Harper are each 2-for-4. Daniel Murphy is 4-for-9.

The Nationals have crushed Reds pitching for 29 runs and 10 homers over the past three games. They have never swept the Reds in a four-game series.
