LaRoche, Strasburg just keep on raking (Nats win 4-1)

Adam LaRoche now has 71 RBIs on the season, increasing his lead among National League first basemen. Stephen Strasburg now has seven RBIs on the season, increasing his lead among all major league pitchers. From an outsider's perspective, it might be an unlikely offensive duo which has driven in the Nationals' four runs so far today, but those who have watched the Nats this season know better. Both LaRoche and Strasburg have been raking this year. Strasburg got the Nationals on the board by smacking a two-run single to right-center in the second, bringing in Jayson Werth and Danny Espinosa. After a walk to Steve Lombardozzi and a single by Bryce Harper, LaRoche singled to center to plate two more runs and make it a 4-0 Nationals lead. LaRoche now has 10 RBIs in his last six games. He leads NL first basemen not only in RBIs, but also homers (23). Strasburg, meanwhile, is now batting .353 on the season, has a .421 on-base percentage and is slugging .558. Those numbers are tops among all major league pitchers with at least 10 at-bats. He's also thrown four scoreless innings with four strikeouts, this after allowing six runs on eight hits over just four innings his last time out. Update: Strasburg is done after throwing six shutout innings, allowing just three hits. He walked one and struck out six. The trend coming into this outing for Strasburg was: good outing, bad outing, good outing, bad outing. That trend continues with this stellar performance today. Update II: The Marlins got a run off Craig Stammen in the seventh, but with Tyler Clippard presumably unavailable after working each of the last three days, Sean Burnett and Drew Storen closed out the Marlins to give the Nats a 4-1 win. This is Storen's first save of the season. The Nationals' former closer, who saved 43 games last season, underwent elbow surgery to remove bone chips early this season. The Nationals took three of four from the Marlins this series and are now 22 games above .500 for the first time this season.
