Nationals recall Solis, place Belisle on disabled list

The Washington Nationals recalled left-handed pitcher Sammy Solis from Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday and placed right-handed pitcher Matt Belisle on the 15-day disabled list with a right calf strain. President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.
Solis, 27, joins the Nationals for his first Major League assignment of the season. The highest-rated left-hander in Washington's system (No. 17, per Baseball America), Solis has allowed just one earned run in 9.0 innings of work at Triple-A Syracuse this season.
Transitioning to the bullpen during a 2015 season that featured his first Major League call-up, Solis has excelled in relief thus far this year, striking out 14 of the 34 batters he's faced, allowing just five hits and only three walks.
Belisle, 35, made the Nationals as a Non-Roster Invitee out of Spring Training and had experienced early success out of the Nationals' bullpen, allowing just one earned run in 6.0 innings of work (seven appearances).
