The Nationals expanded their roster further this afternoon, recalling outfielder Michael A. Taylor and reliever Ryan Mattheus from Triple-A Syracuse
Taylor, 23, is back with the Nationals for the second time this season after hitting .304 with a .390 on-base percentage and a .526 slugging percentage in 110 games with Double-A Harrisburg and Syracuse. After recording 17 doubles, two triples, 22 home runs, 61 RBIs and 34 stolen bases in 98 games, Taylor was named the Double-A Eastern League MVP.
Taylor hit .167 (3-for-18) with one homer and two RBIs during his first stint with the Nats.
Mattheus, 30, has pitched in four games with the Nats this year, tossing 5 2/3 scoreless innings. He went 1-3 record with a 5.91 ERA in 36 minor league games this season.
The Nationals now have 34 players on their active roster.
