Zimmermann back in the saddle again (Nats sweep Astros)

Hey, the game's in Texas; I figured I should toss a country reference in there. After struggling a bit (and getting some bad breaks) in his last outing, Jordan Zimmermann is back to his dominant self tonight down in Houston. Zimmermann has cruised through five innings, allowing just two hits and striking out nine. He has a 2-0 lead going to the sixth. The righty has already tied his season high for strikeouts in a game, which he posted back on May 12. Zimmermann needed seven innings to record nine strikeouts that night against the Reds; he's hit the nine-K mark in just five frames tonight. He's blowing away Astros hitters, looking every bit like the reigning NL Pitcher of the Month and a guy who entered today with the third-best ERA in the majors among eligible starters. Adam LaRoche and Michael Morse have the RBIs for the Nationals. LaRoche is now up to 73 RBIs on the season. Meanwhile, Roger Bernadina is having himself a heck of a series. He scored the game-winning run in the series opener, made the game-saving leaping grab on Tuesday, and now has two hits and two stolen bases tonight. If he's playing this well now, imagine how his performance will improve once Shark Week kicks off on Sunday. Update: If Michael Morse was looking for a way to extend his hitting streak to 18 games, hitting a ball to Dallas probably will do. Morse absolutely crushed a Lucas Harrell offering out to left, hitting it high off one of the signs in front of the train tracks at Minute Maid Park. It was a shot, it pushes Morse's hitting streak up to 18 and it gives the Nats a 3-0 lead. Update: Morse hit two homers, Zimmermann went six scoreless and the Nats rolled to 5-0 win over the Astros. They've notched their first four-game sweep of the season. The three-city road trip is off to a strong start.
