A few pregame notes

The Orioles are looking for their first road series win against an American League East opponent since April 8-11, when they took two of three at Fenway Park. Since the start of the 2012 season, the Orioles are 11-4 at home against the Blue Jays. They're 9-14 in their last 23 games in Toronto. The Orioles are averaging 5.7 runs per game in their seven games at Rogers Centre this season, more than a full run (4.5) higher than their average in their other 64 road games. The Orioles are batting .295 (74-for-251) in those seven games and .261 (594-for-2,271) in their other 64 games on the road. Thirteen of the Orioles' last 19 games have been decided by two runs or fewer (4-9 record), including seven one-run games (2-5 record). The Orioles went 13-for-63 (.206) with runners in scoring position on their eight-game homestand. They've had one game in their last 11 (4-for-9 on Wednesday) with more than two hits with RISP. Over the last 19 games, the Orioles are batting .212 (30-for-141) with RISP and have gone 8-11. The Orioles are 40-28 (.588) in games following a loss, including 21-14 on the road. Adam Jones has hit a home run in each of his last three games against the Blue Jays (July 12-14). Earlier this season, on May 23-26, Jones hit a home run in four straight games against them. According to STATS, the only other player in Orioles history to have two separate streaks of three or more consecutive games with a home run against the same team in the same season was Boog Powell, who did it in 1969 against the White Sox. Chris Davis (15) and Jones (14) have hit the most homers against the Jays since the start of the 2012 season. Jones (seven) and Davis (six) ranks first and tied for second, respectively, in home runs by a Toronto opponent this season. Edwin Encarnacion has 14 homers against the Orioles since the start of 2012, the most by an opponent and four more than the next-highest total - 10 by Curtis Granderson. Encarnacion has homered in three straight games against the Birds twice this year (April 23-May 23 and June 23-July 13). Jason Hammel has lost six consecutive decisions, tying his career-high (April 11-Oct. 1, 2006). The Orioles have lost nine of the last 10 games that he's started, the only win coming at Yankee Stadium on July 7 when Jones homered off Mariano Rivera. Manny Machado is tied with Mike Trout for the most hits in the majors with 181. A reminder that Davis needs one more home run to reach 50 and tie Brady Anderson's club single-season record set in 1996. Davis also will become the third player in major league history to hit 50 homers and 40 doubles in a season, joining Babe Ruth (59 homers/44 doubles in 152 games in 1921) and Albert Belle (52 homers/50 doubles for Cleveland in 143 games in 1995).
