HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Low Single-A outfielder Brian Goodwin has been out of the lineup since April 9 after suffering a quad injury running to first base on a single.
He was able to play only five games, but hit .375 with a double, two homers, two stolen bases and eight RBIs.
Finally, after missing more than a month, one of the top selections in last year's draft is ready to return to the field.
A team source confirms that Goodwin will be activated Friday and return to the starting lineup against the Delmarva Shorebirds. He will start in center field. It will be his first professional game in 39 days.
Goodwin has been rehabbing recently in Florida, playing three-inning games and gaining back the strength and mobility of his injured leg.
