Chris Davis following his own act from 2013 (and other notes)

Chris Davis is on such a roll these days, he's resembling the 2013 version of himself.

Davis belted a three-run homer in the first inning last night to point the Orioles toward a 9-2 victory in Oakland. He's collected six home runs and 19 RBIs in his last 10 games.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the last Oriole to do so was also Davis in his first 10 games of the 2013 season.

Only one other player has enjoyed a 10-game span of this type in 2015 - Colorado's Carlos Gonzalez with eight home runs and 19 RBIs from July 11-27.

Davis' 75 RBIs rank second in the American League behind the Blue Jays' Josh Donaldson (77). He's one ahead of the Yankees' Mark Teixeira.

In his last two games, Caleb Joseph has gone 4-for-7 with a double, two home runs and six RBIs. He isn't expected to be in tonight's lineup with Matt Wieters moving back behind the plate.

Since the 2014 All-Star break, Miguel Gonzalez is 15-11 with a 3.46 ERA in 179 1/3 innings. Opponents are batting .245 in that span.

Gonzalez's 3.46 ERA ranks 16th among qualifying starters in the American League.

Gonzalez is 4-0 with a 3.04 ERA over his last four road starts. He's allowed two runs or fewer in three of the four outings.

Jimmy Paredes leads the Orioles and ranks seventh in the AL with a .356 average (21-for-59) with RISP.

The Orioles are 41-20 when they score first.

Buck Showalter (1,313) tied Ned Hanlon for 31st place on the all-time managerial wins list. He trails Chuck Tanner (1,352) for 30th place.

Single-A Delmarva left-hander John Means was named the South Atlantic League's Pitcher of the Week after tossing a seven-inning no-hitter on Sunday.

On this date in 1975, left fielder Don Baylor went 5-for-5 with a home run and four runs scored in the Orioles' 12-8 win in Boston. Third baseman Brooks Robinson had his first four-RBI game in exactly one year and the last of his career.
