Demny and Rendon sweep Eastern League player of week honors

One player has been on fire since his return from the Washington Nationals. The other threw eight of the nine innings of a no-hitter. This week the Eastern League took notice. The Double-A Eastern League announced that right-hander Paul Demny has been named Pitcher of the Week and third baseman Anthony Rendon is the Player of the Week for May 6 -12. Rendon used his time with the Nationals as a springboard to his return to Double-A Harrisburg. The 22-year old Rendon batted .500 (12-for-24) with six doubles, two home runs, eight RBI, five runs scored, six walks and a 1.600 slugging percentage in seven games for the Senators last week. In five of those games, Rendon had more than one base hit. His six doubles for the week was tops in the Eastern League, as was his extra base hits (8), total bases (24) and OPS (1.600). In Demny's lone start, he went eight innings against Binghamton, allowing no hits and no earned runs with five strikeouts. He combined with Ian Krol for the Senators first nine-inning no-hitter since 2003. He is 2-4 with a 4.62 ERA in seven starts for Harrisburg, with 36 strikeouts and 13 walks in 37 innings. He has now allowed only two earned runs in his last two games, a span of 12 innings.
