Left-hander Andrew Faulkner cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk.
Faulkner joins Logan Verrett, Tyler Wilson and Jayson Aquino as pitchers who were outrighted since Sept. 5 after the Orioles designated them for assignment.
Faulkner, 24, was 3-0 with a 2.79 ERA in 34 games with Triple-A Norfolk. He allowed only one home run in 38 2/3 innings and opponents were batting .216. Left-handers posted a .208 average.
The Orioles acquired Faulkner from the Rangers on April 6 for cash considerations and designated him on Friday to make room for shortstop J.J. Hardy on the 40-man roster.
Caleb Joseph is catching again tonight while Welington Castillo recovers from another foul ball to the groin region. Seth Smith is in right field.
Kevin Gausman turned in back-to-back scoreless outings before allowing five runs in three innings Thursday afternoon against the Yankees. He shut out the Blue Jays over six innings on Sept. 1 at Camden Yards and is 2-0 with a 1.57 ERA in five starts against them this season.
Kevin Pillar is 10-for-22 (.455) lifetime against Gausman. Darwin Barney is 6-for-17 (.353) with a home run, Ezequiel Carrera is 6-for-19 (.316) with a double and home run, and Steve Peace is 5-for-10.
Kendrys Morales is 1-for-13.
Marcus Stroman is making his second start since being hit by a Mark Trumbo line drive on Sept. 2 at Camden Yards. He's 3-3 with a 4.29 ERA in nine career games against the Orioles.
Trumbo is 7-for-18 (.389) with two doubles and a home run against Stroman. Jonathan Schoop is 3-for-20 (.150).
