Show of hands if you're attending FanFest today at the Convention Center.
Closer Zach Britton is unable to make it due to a snowstorm in Nevada that closed a major highway and prevented him from getting a flight out of there. The Orioles instead will have Britton do some "interactive" stuff and the Orioles were working late last night on the necessary adjustments to the autograph station.
Ubaldo Jimenez received permission to skip it because he's getting married. Mark Trumbo and L.J. Hoes had previous commitments before the Orioles traded for them.
The Orioles still weren't able last night to confirm whether Manny Machado would attend the annual event. I would be surprised.
Chris Davis won't be there, so no sense bringing any photos for him to autograph. As the Orioles can attest, he isn't signing anything these days.
The local media will get its first chance to interview Vance Worley, who could compete for a spot in the rotation or bullpen in spring training. So much depends on what moves the Orioles make before pitchers and catchers report.
I'm assuming that Worley will be viewed as a potential swingman, someone who could consume innings out of the bullpen and make the occasional start if he's needed.
Jimmy Paredes can update us on his attempts to play the outfield in winter ball. Trey Mancini can update us on his perceived chances of breaking camp with the team - and whether he's paying really close attention to the Davis drama. J.J. Hardy can update us on the condition of his right shoulder. Chris Tillman and Miguel Gonzalez can talk about bounce back seasons.
Brian Matusz can update us on his level of excitement over the three-year, $18 million deal that left-hander Tony Sipp received from the Astros. Matusz is a free agent after next season.
Dylan Bundy can update us on the condition of his right arm, whether he expects to be full-go for spring training and whether he's prepared for the possibility of joining the bullpen on opening day.
Matt Wieters can list 15.8 million reasons why taking the qualifying offer made sense. Caleb Joseph can list almost as many reasons why he's glad Wieters came back.
Adam Jones can offer his opinion on ... everything. And you know that includes Davis and the $150 million offer that remains unclaimed.
Justin Upton could jump out from behind the curtain and yell, "Surprise!" but you'd have a better chance of seeing a unicorn. The same goes for Alex Gordon, Denard Span, Pedro Alvarez, Carlos Gonzalez, Scott Kazmir, Yovani Gallardo and every other player on the Orioles' radar.
One or more could end up in the organization, but they won't walk into the Convention Center.
Check back early and often because I'm going to be cranking out the copy.
