Giolito to start again June 14, Kobernus reports to P-Nats

The low Single-A Hagerstown Suns list right-hander Lucas Giolito as their starter for the June 14 home game against Greenville at Municipal Stadium. Giolito is 2-0 with a 2.06 ERA. He went four innings in his last start, so I would expect the target to be five innings for this start. * Double-A Harrisburg right-hander A.J. Cole will start Thursday night for the Senators at Erie. Cole is 5-2 with a 2.30 ERA. Harrisburg is in the middle of its longest winning streak of the season following Tuesday's 6-4 comeback victory. Jason Martinson had a two-run double and Matt Skole added a two-run single. * The high Single-A Potomac Nationals need four wins in the final six games of the first half of the season to take their second straight Carolina League Northern Division crown. They are at Carolina tonight and come home to face Winston-Salem through Father's Day weekend. Friday night's doubleheader begins at 5:30 p.m. Left-hander Gio Gonzalez will make his second rehab start for the P-Nats Thursday night. He has been on the disabled list with left shoulder inflammation since May 18. Gonzalez struggled on June 8 for the P-Nats, going 3 2/3 innings, allowing seven hits, eight runs, all earned, one homer, four walks and two strikeouts. He said after that game that his body still wasn't at full strength. The Nationals would most likely prefer to see Gonzalez go five innings Friday and see how his arm, shoulder and body react to 75 or so pitches. Right-hander Blake Treinen is scheduled to start for the Nationals Friday night in Gonzalez's spot at St. Louis. * Infielder Jeff Kobernus played four games for Hagerstown as he rehabs from a hand injury. Kobernus hit .231 with three hits a home run and two RBIs in four games. He has joined Potomac and could see game play in the final six games before the All-Star break. Kobernus has been on the 60-day disabled list since April 12 with a left hand fracture. * The Giants are 2nd in National League attendance with 1,377,609 fans through the turnstiles so far this season. The Nationals are ranked fourth out of 15 NL teams with 1,024,321. The Giants have not lost three straight at home this season. They last lost their second in a row at AT&T Park on May 17. The Nationals have won the first two games of the series by a combined score of 11-3. * Harrisburg left-hander Sammy Solis is on the 15-day disabled list with elbow discomfort. Nationals director of player development Mark Scialabba says Solis is still not throwing and is resting his arm. As of right now, surgery is not a consideration.
