Gonzalez goes three innings (O's down 3-0)

SARASOTA, Fla. - The Orioles now have two starters who have gone three innings this spring.

gonzalez-pitching-black-close-sidebar.jpgMiguel Gonzalez retired the last seven batters he faced and left with the Blue Jays ahead 2-0. He gave up back-to-back singles to Jose Reyes and Ramon Santiago leading off the first, and the runs scored on a Justin Smoak grounder and Kevin Pillar double.

Second baseman Everth Cabrera bobbled Smoak's grounder and flipped the ball to first.

Former Oriole Chris Dickerson grounded out to end the inning, and Gonzalez kept motoring along, getting a pop up, two fly balls, another pop up, called third strike and liner to left field.

Gonzalez threw 49 pitches, 32 for strikes. He's allowed two runs in five innings in his two starts, both against the Blue Jays in Sarasota.

Left-hander Wesley Wright replaced Gonzalez and retired the Jays in order with two strikeouts. No one is warming in the bullpen, so he's coming back out for the fifth.

We're still scoreless in the bottom of the fourth.

Alejandro De Aza led off the bottom of the first with a walk, but J.J. Hardy grounded into a 6-4-3 double play. Cabrera and Caleb Joseph singled with one out in the third, but De Aza grounded into a 4-6-3 double play.

Update: The Jays scored a run off Wright in the fifth on back-to-back doubles by Josh Thole and Munenori Kawasaki with one out to take a 3-0 lead.
