We can start with Jake Arrieta's marathon first inning, and how his pitch count stands at 57 through the third. We can proceed to the 3-0 deficit, and how Arrieta has allowed five hits and walked a batter. There's also the throwing error by Matt Wieters in the first. And the double play from Miguel Tejada, who swung at the initial offering from Nationals starter J.D. Martin after Corey Patterson led off the bottom of the first with a seven-pitch walk. Garrett Atkins, in his first at-bat since June 14, grounded into a 5-2-3 double play with the bases loaded and no outs. Patterson thought he had a home run in the third, but Nats center fielder Nyjer Morgan made one of the most amazing catches I've ever seen, leaping so far above the fence that I thought he might crack his head on the bottom of the video board. So far, so bad for the Orioles. Rehab updates: Michael Gonzalez threw another scoreless inning for the Gulf Coast Orioles, striking out one and getting two fly balls. Felix Pie is 1-for-2 as Single-A Frederick's designated hitter.
