Jones continues to jolt the Jays (updated)

Doesn't matter if the roof is open or closed at Rogers Centre. Doesn't matter who's pitching, or whether the game is in Canada or the U.S. Adam Jones just keeps raking against the Blue Jays. His double in the first inning today extended his hitting streak against Toronto to 16 games, tied for the third-longest in franchise history. Al Bumbry hold the record, having hit safely in 20 straight games against Toronto from June 26, 1977-June 30, 1980. Miguel Tejada hit in 18 straight games from Aug. 30, 2005-June 14, 2006, and Lee Lacy hit safely in 16 straight from Aug. 1, 1985-June 12, 1987. Nick Markakis extended his hitting streak to 11 games, batting .386 (17-for-44) with nine RBIs. Markakis was thrown out at the plate trying to score on Jones' double. Another aggressive send by third base coach Bobby Dickerson. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The Orioles' bats continue to sizzle. Chris Davis led off the second inning with a double, his 10th hit in 17 at-bats in this series. According to MLB Stats, Davis' 33 extra-base hits through the team's first 49 games were the most in franchise history. He just added his 34th today. Davis moved to third on J.J. Hardy's single, giving the shortstop at least one hit in 19 of the last 21 games. He's batting .321 (26-for-81) during that stretch. Davis scored on a double by Matt Wieters, who's been lowered to seventh in the order for the first time this season. Wieters was 3-for-25 in his last six games before his double today. Another run scored on Danny Valencia's broken-bat grounder, giving the Orioles a 2-0 lead. Toronto starter Chad Jenkins allowed six of the first seven Orioles to reach base. Manny Machado was the exception, but he lined into a double play in the first inning. Jenkins has thrown 34 pitches in two innings. Orioles starter Miguel Gonzalez threw 26 pitches in the first, as the Jays kept working the count full. He's at 38 pitches through the second, with no hits allowed, one walk and two strikeouts. Update: Miguel has allowed one run and four hits in five innings, with two walks and five strikeouts. He's thrown 84 pitches, 50 for strikes, and continues to hold a 2-1 lead. The Orioles are 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position and have stranded seven. Machado picked up his 22nd double, tops in the majors, and added a single. He has 23 multi-hit games this season, and 17 in his last 31 games. Machado has hit safely in 16 of his last 18 road games, batting .422. Wieters had doubled twice today for the second time this season. He also did it on May 7 against the Royals. Down on the farm, Ryan Flaherty is 2-for-2 with a double and home run today for Triple-A Norfolk. He's batting .304. Tsuyoshi Wada, making his third injury-rehab start, hasn't allowed a run in the first three innings.
