Jones slips to fifth in All-Star voting

Adam Jones has dropped from fourth to fifth place among outfielders in voting for the American League's All-Star team. The Rangers' Nelson Cruz has passed him. The Blue Jays' Jose Bautista is third with 2,773,422 votes, followed by Cruz with 2,681,019 and Jones with 2,633,259. This is the final update provided by Major League Baseball before Sunday's selection show, which will air at 1 p.m. on TBS. Matt Wieters ranks third among catchers with 1,623,459 votes. The Rangers' Mike Napoli is first with 3,008,228 votes, followed by the Twins' Joe Mauer with 1,772,228. J.J. Hardy is third among shortstops with 1,331,927 votes. The Yankees' Derek Jeter is first with 4,407,982 votes, followed by the Rangers Elvis Andrus with 2,764,888. Robert Andino ranks fifth among second basemen with 714,560 votes. Nick Markakis, who was placed on the disabled list retroactive to May 30 with a broken hamate bone, has received 888,183 votes to rank 13th among outfielders. The Orioles haven't had a player elected to the All-Star Game since Miguel Tejada and Brian Roberts in 2005. That's also the last time they had more than one representative. The second streak should come to an end.
