Jorge Mateo is back in Orioles lineup for tonight's game

Jorge Mateo has returned to the Orioles lineup for tonight’s game against the Yankees.

Mateo wasn’t available since Sunday’s collision with Detroit’s Spenser Torkelson that left him with a bruised shoulder and chest.

Austin Hays is playing left field on back-to-back nights since returning to the lineup. Tyler Nevin is the first baseman and Anthony Bemboom is catching.

No roster moves have been announced.

Trey Mancini is batting .392 (20-for-51) with two home runs since May 3.

Jordan Lyles faced the Yankees in his second start as an Oriole and allowed one run and six hits in 5 1/3 innings. He faced them again in his fourth start and allowed six runs and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Anthony Rizzo homered twice off him in New York and Joey Gallo homered once. Rizzo is 6-for-22 with 11 RBIs lifetime against Lyles. DJ LeMahieu is 6-for-19, Giancarlo Stanton is 7-for-15 with two doubles and a home run, and Josh Donaldson is 5-for-10 with a double and triple.

The Orioles have been successful on their last nine stolen base attempts, the last failure on May 1.

Five Orioles have made their major league debuts this year, and reliever Nick Vespi is waiting to become the sixth.

Gerrit Cole is 3-0 with a 2.95 ERA and 1.118 WHIP in seven starts, with 46 strikeouts and five home runs surrendered in 36 2/3 innings. He’s registered four quality starts in a row.

Cole has a career 1.41 ERA and 0.806 WHIP in seven starts against the Orioles. He’s allowed six earned runs in 23 2/3 innings.

Rougned Odor is 1-for-17 with a double and seven strikeouts against Cole. Chris Owings is 5-for-12 with four doubles. Robinson Chirinos is 2-for-7 with a double and home run.

Owings and Chirinos are on the bench tonight.

Aaron Judge homered twice last night and has 30 in 76 career games against the Orioles.
