Lannan allows one earned run, but H'Burg falls

Nationals pitcher John Lannan struggled in the fifth inning of the Harrisburg Senators' 18-15 loss to the Altoona Curve. Most of the offense occurred after the left-hander exited the game.
Lannan allowed just one earned run in 4 2/3 innings, leaving the game leading 4-3. The Curve scored three runs in the fifth inning to tie the game 4-4.
The Curve made a dramatic comeback in the ninth inning. With Harrisburg leading 14-8, Altoona scored 10 runs in the ninth inning and won 18-15.
Lannan gave up five hits, three walks, and struck out three in the four runs, with just one earned.
The fifth inning is where Lannan got into some trouble. He hit the first batter, and a fielding error by Michael Martinez put runners on first and second.
Lannan looked like he would get out of it after inducing two flyouts, but a Jody Mercer two-run double ended Lannan's night, and made the score 4-3 Harrisburg. Another run scored off of reliever Cole Kimball, and the inning ended all even 4-4.
After five starts in the minors, Lannan is 1-2 with a 4.11 ERA.
