Machado leads AL shortstops in All-Star voting

Orioles shortstop Manny Machado is engulfed in trade rumors and speculation as the non-waiver deadline draws nearer. He's already on the move in the American League's All-Star balloting, rising to the top at his position.

Machado has received 321,887 votes to lead the Indians' Francisco Lindor, who's second with 211,756. The Yankees' Didi Gregorius is third with 208,583.

None of Machado's teammates appear in the first balloting update. No one in the top five at the other positions or the top 15 among outfielders.

Center fielder Adam Jones is a five-time All-Star, but he's excluded in the early results.

Machado moved back to his original position this season. He's made three All-Star teams at third base.

Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts, an All-Star the past two seasons, has received the most votes in the majors with 748,872 to put him ahead of Astros second baseman and reigning AL Most Valuable Player Jose Altuve (701,236) and Angels outfielder Mike Trout (639,822).

For the fourth consecutive season, All-Star balloting will be conducted exclusively online and via mobile devices at MLB.com, all 30 club web sites, and the MLB At Bat and MLB Ballpark mobile apps.

The Mid-Summer Classic will be played July 17 at Nationals Park.
