More notes before tonight's game

Steve Johnson is the only Orioles reliever who definitely isn't available tonight after working 2 1/3 innings last night and getting the win. Manager Buck Showalter may attempt to lay off Tommy Hunter, as well. Johnson became the 13th Orioles pitcher to record a win last night. In 2012, the Orioles had 17 pitchers record a win, though that total includes first baseman Chris Davis. According to STATS, the Orioles are tied with the Angels for the most pitchers recording wins in the majors. Seven other clubs have 12. The Orioles are leading the American League in runs scored (271), hits (515), doubles (118), home runs (75), slugging (.464), extra-base hits (197), stolen bases (41) and OPS (.796). They also rank second in average (.276) and stolen base percentage (83.7). The Orioles are on pace to hit 230 home runs, which would be second-most in franchise history behind the 1996 club that belted 257. They would score the fourth-most runs (828) in club history, behind the 949 in 1996, 851 in 1999, and 842 in 2004. Davis was named the American League's Player of the Month for April after hitting .348/.442/.728 with eight doubles, nine homers, 28 RBIs, 16 walks, and 19 runs in 27 games. In May, he's batting .370/.453/.804 with 10 doubles, 10 homers, 22 RBIs, 13 walks and 21 runs in 25 games. Davis' 50 RBIs are the second-most through 53 games behind Frank Robinson's 53 in 1967, according to STATS. According to Elias, only two players in franchise history have needed fewer games to reach the 50-RBI milestone than Davis - Ken Williams in the St. Louis Browns' 47th game in 1925, and Robinson in the Orioles' 49th game in 1967. Davis has scored a run in eight straight games, which is tied for the 10th-longest streak in Orioles history. The franchise record belongs to Robinson, who scored in 11 straight games from April 12-29, 1966. Nick Markakis was the last Oriole to score in nine straight, from June 28-July 6, 2008. Markakis has hits in 17 of the last 19 games and is batting .370 (30-for-81) with seven doubles, three homers, 16 RBIs and 14 runs scored. He has 10 multi-hit games during that span. J.J. Hardy has hit in 21 of his last 24 games since May 3, batting .313 (30-for-96) with seven home runs and 17 RBIs. Manny Machado is tied with Miguel Cabrera for the most hits in the majors with 77) and leads the majors with 24 doubles. He's shooting for his 24th multi-hit game tonight. Nate McLouth leads the AL with 17 stolen bases. According to STATS, the Orioles have scored more runs on home runs than any club in baseball (116), leading the Indians (111) and Braves (106). Freddy Garcia is 23-11 with a 2.92 ERA and 32 quality starts in interleague games (42 starts).
