More roster speculation and game update (O's lose 10-2)

Rule 5 pick Jason Garcia is in the Orioles bullpen for tonight's game. However, I'm hearing that he would be involved in a pending roster move.

Mike Wright remains at Harbor Park in Norfolk after being scratched from his start, so the Orioles aren't rushing him here.

That's all I've got and I'm worn out from speculating. Maybe manager Buck Showalter will enlighten us later.

Garcia has allowed nine earned runs (10 total) and 11 hits in 13 2/3 innings, with 11 walks, eight strikeouts and two hit batters. He's also served up three home runs.

Chris Tillman cruised through the first inning tonight on only nine pitches, retiring Jose Bautista on a pop up for the final out. Bautista was greeted with boos, of course, from a crowd that's smaller than last night's announced turnout of 20,468.

Chris Colabello reached on an infield hit with two outs, but Kevin Pillar flied out on Tillman's 16th pitch of the night.

Blue Jays left-hander Mark Buehrle also retired the side in order in the bottom of the first, shattering Adam Jones' bat with an 81 mph cutter.

On this date in 1971, left-hander Mike Cuellar allowed only a third-inning single by Royals catcher Milt May in a 6-0 win. On this date in 1967, Jim Palmer faced the minimum 27 batters in a one-hit shutout in New York, allowing a seventh-inning single by Yankees second baseman Horace Clarke.

Also on this date in 1956, left-hander Don Ferrarese took a no-hitter into the ninth inning at Yankee Stadium before third baseman Andy Carey and right fielder Hank Bauer singled. Ferrarese settled for a two-hit shutout and his first major league win in a 1-0 victory.

Update: Jimmy Paredes extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a two-out, two-run single in the third inning that broke a scoreless tie.

Paredes is 9-for-17 with 11 RBIs with runners in scoring position.

J.J. Hardy led off with a single and Manny Machado doubled with two outs.

Update II: The Blue Jays broke through against Tillman in the fourth, getting an RBI single from Chris Colabello after a walk and single. Tillman's pitch count rose to 57 in four innings.

Update III: Edwin Encarnacion homered leading off the sixth to tie the game 2-2.

Tillman has hit two batters in the last two innings to tie his career high.

Update IV: The Blue Jays scored four runs in the seventh, three of them charged to Tillman, to take a 6-2 lead.

Encarnacion hit another opposite-field home run, a two-run shot off Tommy Hunter after Caleb Joseph was crossed up on a pitch that allowed another run to score. Manny Machado committed his team-leading eighth error earlier in the inning on a throw behind Tillman, who was covering first on an attempted double play.

Tillman is charged with five runs and nine hits in 6 2/3 innings, with one walk, four strikeouts, a home run and two hit batters. He threw 102 pitches, 70 for strikes.

Tillman's ERA is 6.34 in 38 1/3 innings.

Update V: It really got ugly in the eighth.

The Jays scored four more runs off T.J. McFarland, the last two on Josh Donaldson's home run to center field. Chris Davis and J.J. Hardy committed errors, the second time this season that the Orioles have totaled three in a game.

The Orioles have allowed four runs or more in four games this season, all against the Jays.

Update VI: This one is over. The Orioles lose to the Blue Jays 10-2. They're now 14-17, again tying their season high of three games below .500.
