Orioles acquire infielder Omar Quintanilla from Mets, Indians lineup (updated)

Looking to add middle infield depth after losing Brian Roberts and Robert Andino to injuries, the Orioles have acquired Omar Quintanilla from the Mets for future considerations or cash. Quintanilla, 30, can play second base and shortstop, which comes in handy on this team. The Mets designated Quintanilla for assignment a few days ago. He was batting .257/.350/.371 with five doubles, one home run and four RBIs in 29 games this season. Quintanilla is a career .218/.278 /.294 hitter in seven major league seasons, including stints with the Rockies and Rangers. He was the 33rd overall pick by the Athletics in the 2003 First-Year Player Draft. The Orioles had room on their 40-man roster after designating pitcher Brad Bergesen for assignment. The Diamondbacks claimed Bergesen off waivers earlier today. Baseball's circle of life. Quintanilla has played 119 games at shortstop, 106 at second base and 13 at third base in the majors. The Orioles haven't announced the trade, which was first reported by Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com. More information should be available shortly. UPDATE: Quintanilla is expected to join the Orioles tomorrow in Cleveland. Another roster move is on the horizon. For the Indians: Shin-Soo Choo RF Asdrubal Cabrera SS Jason Kipnis 2B Michael Brantley CF Carlos Santana C Travis Hafner DH Johnny Damon LF Casey Kotchman 1B Jack Hannahan 3B Derek Lowe RHP
