Orioles back on WBAL

The Orioles issued a press release announcing that they're returning to 1090 AM WBAL Radio after a four-year absence from the station's airwaves. It's a multi-year deal, but I'm not sure if it includes incentives. I'm also not sure how many fans really care, but I know there was some curiosity. You'll tune in wherever you can find the games. Just make sure to switch to AM. And I don't mean Andy MacPhail. Orioles representative Alan Rifkin made the official announcement tonight at 6 p.m. on 1090 AM. The Sun filed a report shortly before the broadcast. This will be the 42nd season that WBAL Radio has broadcast the games. I figured there might be something in the works when "The Scott Garceau Show" no longer aired on MASN, but remained on 105.7 The Fan. Unless that's purely a coincidence. So many changes to digest. Joe Angel and Fred Manfra will continue to call the games on the Orioles Radio Network, since they're employed by the team. "We are excited to re-establish our relationship with WBAL Radio," Orioles director of communications Greg Bader said in a statement. "Both the Orioles and WBAL Radio have a long and proud tradition in this region and we are pleased to once again call them our flagship as we look forward to an exciting 2011 season." The Orioles will have to coexist with the Ravens in September. I assume 98 Rock will be involved.
