Orioles lineup vs. Yankees

Ramón Urías is batting second again tonight after last night’s walk-off walk in the 11^th inning in a 2-1 win over the Yankees.

Urías is getting another start at third base, with Rougned Odor at second and Jorge Mateo at short. Anthony Bemboom is catching.

Trey Mancini is playing first base.

Anthony Santander has reached base in all seven games. He’s in right field tonight.

Tyler Wells is making his second major league start tonight, and he remains in a tandem setup. He allowed four runs and three hits in 1 2/3 innings against the Rays in the opening series, walking two batters and striking out two.

Wells appeared in six games against the Yankees last summer and allowed four runs and five hits with 10 strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings.

The Orioles drew 10 walks last night. They rank second in the American League with 34 walks, five fewer than the Mariners. 

The 10 walks are the most since May 6, 2012 in Boston and the most at home since May 7, 2011 against the Rays.

Last night marked the first time that the Orioles drew three walks from the No. 9 spot in the order since Andrew Velazquez on Sept. 14, 2020 versus the Braves.

The Orioles have recorded three walk-off walks against the Yankees, the most recent before last night coming from catcher Ramón Hernández against Scott Proctor on June 26, 2007.

The Orioles haven’t surrendered a home run in four straight games at home, the first time in a single season since July 2016. 

The bullpen’s 2.06 ERA in 35 innings ranks second in the American League and fourth in the majors. The Rockies are first at 0.86 in 31 1/3 innings.

Jorge López recorded his 300^th and 301^st career strikeouts last night.

Right-hander Jameson Taillon starts for the Yankees. He’s surrendered four earned runs (five total) with one walk and 17 strikeouts in 11 innings in two career starts against the Orioles.

Gleyber Torres went 0-for-3 last night and hasn’t homered against the Orioles in 102 consecutive plate appearances dating back to Aug. 13, 2019 – the fourth-longest stretch among active players behind Alcides Escobar (238), Mallex Smith (164) and Michael Brantley (104).
