Rendon off to hot start for Double-A Harrisburg

Double-A Harrisburg Senators third baseman Anthony Rendon is continuing to prove how good a hitter he is when healthy and given the chance to play multiple games. Through 13 games, Rendon is hitting .311 (14-for-45) with eight runs, four doubles, two homers and seven RBIs. He had a 4-for-4 game at Altoona on Sunday, with two doubles. Rendon has had multi-hit games in three of his last six games. He has also walked 12 times, and his on-base percentage is up to .467. His on-base plus slugging percentage is 1.000. Rendon is hitting .419 versus right-handers and .375 with runners in scoring position. Rendon had his first season at high Single-A Potomac cut short in April last year with an ankle injury. It took him the whole season to get back to playing baseball. The instructional league and Arizona Fall League allowed Rendon to get extra at-bats. Because of the injury last season, Rendon was limited to only 30 games between Potomac and Harrisburg. As I reported earlier, the Nationals are intent on getting him games at shortstop and second base, along with his customary third base, throughout the season. The reasoning appears to be that the Nats believe they have a top-notch hitter on their hands in Rendon, and would like to give him as many games at different infield positions so that he can be useful to the big club at several spots.
