Third baseman Billy Rowell set the record for most career games played at Single-A Frederick when he appeared in No. 334 this afternoon in a 4-1 loss to Salem. I suppose you can file this one in the "dubious" category, since Rowell has spent the last three seasons in the Carolina League after being the ninth overall pick in the 2006 draft. The Orioles considered the idea of assigning him to Double-A Bowie to start the season, but decided to keep him at the Single-A level. They put him back at third base after experimenting with him in right field last year. Rowell went 2-for-4 with two doubles today, raising his average to .267. He batted .225 in 120 games at Frederick last summer. Outfielder Cory Keylor held the previous record from 2002 to 2004. The Orioles named him their minor league Player of the Year in 2006 and traded him to the Boston Red Sox the following spring for catcher Alberto Castillo. Not the left-handed pitcher. The other Alberto Castillo. Triple-A Norfolk's Lou Montanez has doubled, tripled and knocked in three runs tonight. Robert Andino is 3-for-4, but he's also committed his 27th and 28th errors, leading to four unearned runs off Pat Egan.
