Same old story

Same old song and dance. The Orioles can't beat the Blue Jays. Doesn't matter who's pitching, who's hitting, where the game's being played. It's a mismatch and I've seen too much of it. Maybe I'll wake up tomorrow and realize this entire season has been a bad dream. Jose Bautista doesn't really have 30 home runs, and the Orioles' No. 1 starter acquired during the winter meetings, right-hander Kevin Millwood, isn't really 2-10 with a 5.96 ERA. I have no idea who's taking a shower, but I'll assume it isn't Bobby Ewing. It's probably another Orioles' starting pitcher who was sent there early. Millwood gave up six runs (five earned) and 10 hits, and issued four walks, in 5 1/3 innings. He's surrendered two or more runs in the first inning in 10 of his last 11 starts. Maybe the Orioles should send out a reliever for the first inning and bring in Millwood in the second. Mix it up a little and see if it works. I'm going to assume that Millwood won't be traded before Saturday's deadline, but he'll clear waivers next month and still be moved if he strings together a couple of wins. His value has plummeted, and that stint on the disabled list didn't do much good. When did he turn into Adam Eaton? Millwood isn't eating up innings and taking pressure off the kids. The kids aren't flourishing under his guidance. And I'm not going to wake up tomorrow with the team preparing to break camp in Sarasota. Josh Bell hit his 12th home run tonight at Triple-A Norfolk, if that makes anyone feel better. Zach Britton allowed two runs and threw 100 pitches in 5 2/3 innings.
