Solis allows four runs in four innings; Scottsdale falls 10-5

Left-hander Sammy Solis has sometimes allowed runs early and then settled down during his first year of professional ball. That scenario again played out Wednesday as Salt River scored four runs in the first three frames off the Scottsdale southpaw in a 10-5 setback in Arizona Fall League competition.
Solis allowed a two-run single by Nolan Arenado and a pair of RBI outs in the third as the Rafters took a 4-3 advantage.
The nearby Avondale, Ariz., product did have scoreless second and fourth innings. He finished four innings, allowing six hits, four runs, one walk, one wild pitch and two strikeouts. He tossed 63 pitches, 42 for strikes.
The Scorpions rallied to take the lead 5-4, so Solis was not tagged with the loss. Salt River exploded for six runs in the final three innings to win 10-5. Solis' ERA is now 6.43 over two games.
Derek Norris was the only other Nationals prospect to play in this game, going 0-for-2 with a run scored and two walks.
