The Dodgers found a way to score a run off of Stephen Strasburg in the second inning. Yasiel Puig singled and stole second base. With two outs, Logan Forsythe's drive went off the glove of Michael A. Taylor in deep center field for a double. Puig scored. The Dodgers lead 1-0.
Strasburg's franchise-record 34 scoreless innings ends at 35.
The Nationals managed two base hits off of left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu in the second inning to try to plate the equalizer. But Taylor struck out and Matt Wieters grounded back to Ryu to end the inning.

Update: In the fifth, the Nats drew a pair of walks, one to Strasburg and the other by Trea Turner. Those walks chased Ryu. Reliever Ross Stripling arrived with two outs to face Jayson Werth. Update IV: Zimmerman hit his second homer of the game leading off the eighth. His 33rd homer of the season matches a career-high total from 2009. Adam Lind added a pinch-hit two-run homer. His fourth pinch-hit homer of the season is a franchise record for the Nats in a season and the most by any Nats pinch-hitter since 2005.
After eight innings, the Nats lead the Dodgers 7-1.
Update V: Sean Doolittle allowed a single and a walk in the ninth, but was able to retire the side.
