Taylor Jordan off to good start following promotion to Double-A

Right-hander Taylor Jordan was promoted last week from the high Single-A Potomac Nationals to the Double-A Harrisburg and did well in his first game with the Senators. The 24-year-old Jordan made his Harrisburg debut Sunday with four innings of shutout ball, allowing four hits, no runs, one walk and three strikeouts. In seven minor league starts this season, Jordan has gone 2-1 with a 1.12 ERA in seven starts, with 32 strikeouts and seven walks. Nationals director of player development Doug Harris was not surprised Jordan was moved up early in the season. "Not at all," Harris said. "He really had an excellent offseason. He really put himself in position to be in consideration for that when spring training broke. I am not surprised with the success and very pleased with where he is." Jordan employs fastball, sinker, slider and changeup. According to a P-Nats source, Jordan's "sink ball was very effective this season." His groundball-to-flyball ratio was 1.57, which was best among P-Nats starters with at least four starts this season.
