Due to renovation construction on the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's home PNC Field during the 2012 baseball season, 10 of the Yankees "home" games will be played at Alliance Bank Stadium, home of the Washington Nationals' Triple-A affiliate, the Syracuse Chiefs.
The International League made the announcement Friday that eight of the games will be against the Chiefs and the other two against Buffalo. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre will be the home team in Syracuse on April 14-15, June 14-17, and July 14-15 against the Chiefs.
The 2012 Triple-A Yankees will play their other "home" games in Batavia, Buffalo and Rochester, New York, Pawtucket, R.I. and Allentown, Pa.
The Chiefs are scheduled to open the 2012 season on Thursday, April 5 at home against the Rochester Red Wings.
How could this not be advantage Chiefs? They get eight extra home games against the Yankees where the only sacrifice is not getting last at-bats. It will be interesting to see how it all works out next season and if it will make a long term impact on the 2012 International league postseason.
