Tyler Moore wins Carolina League POY

Potomac Nationals first baseman Tyler Moore has won the Carolina League Player of the Year honors. Moore has guided the P-Nats to challenge for the Northern division title with a scorching second half of the season, dating back to mid-July, when he was batting below .200. He has hit 22 of his homers since early July. He has raised his batting average 67 points to .262. "I would have never thought I could be in this position after the first half I had," says Moore. "I tried to make the game fun and was able to bounce back. I feel blessed with everything that has happened and am truly honored to be given this recognition." Moore has slammed a team-record and league-leading 29 homers with 107 RBI in 125 games and becomes only the second Potomac player all-time to win the prestigious honor. Troy Farnsworth won player of the year honors in the Carolina League in 2000. Farnsworth connected with 113 RBI. Moore has six games remaining to break that record. Moore won player of the week honors in the Carolina League four out of six weeks from July through August during his hot streak.
