Werth and Tracy again connect with hits for Triple-A Syracuse

The Nationals pulled off one their most memorable comebacks in recent memory by dropping Milwaukee 11-10 in 11 innings Sunday. Meanwhile, in the nightcap of a Triple-A doubleheader, veterans Jayson Werth and Chad Tracy combined to go 3-for-3 as Syracuse beat Lehigh Valley 6-1. Tracy (right adductor) smacked a pinch-hit solo homer in the sixth inning. Werth (left wrist) went 2-for-2 with two runs and two walks, playing right field for the Chiefs. That is back-to-back nights where both notched at least one hit, and they have mixed in extra-base hits to show their power capability. Manager Davey Johnson believes Tracy will be activated Tuesday, but nothing has been confirmed. Also, still no official word on when Werth will be back in the lineup, but this is certainly a good sign if he is getting at least four at-bats per game and playing right field. Left-hander John Lannan got bounced around in 3 1/3 innings in game one, allowing 13 hits and six runs. But there is still a possiblity that he will pitch Friday night as the Nationals and Marlins play a doubleheader. Lannan allowed just two runs for a win July 21 against the Braves at Nationals Park. Outfielder Steven Souza Jr. tweaked his knee and left Single-A Potomac's 8-3 win at Frederick. A club source said Souza is fine. He should be fine and is listed day to day.
