A few O's notes on Pearce, Jones and more (Bundy allows three runs for Frederick)

So no Fourth of July baseball for the Orioles at Boston. Today's game was rained out and will be made up Saturday as part of a day-night doubleheader. The first game is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. with Game 2 at 7:15 p.m. The first game will air on MASN2 HD and the second game on FOX. So here are a few notes to hold you while you wait for the next game: * Adam Jones went 6-for-12 in the Texas series with two homers and five RBIs. Jones has a seven-game hitting streak and is 12-for-23 (.522) with two doubles, two homers and five RBIs. * Over his last 15 games, Steve Pearce is 23-for-59 (.390) with 14 extra-base hits. Pearce has eight doubles, six homers and nine multi-hit games in that time. He is 9-for-20 over his last five games with three doubles, three homers and nine RBIs. * The Orioles pitched well in the Texas series with a team ERA of 2.00. The O's allowed 10 runs in those four games after giving up 23 in four games against Tampa Bay. The O's bullpen pitched 11 1/3 innings against the Rangers, giving up just one run with one walk and 14 strikeouts. * The Orioles took two of three from Boston at Camden Yards June 9-11, winning 4-0, losing 1-0 and winning 6-0. The one run they allowed in that series was their fewest in a three-game set against Boston since pitching three straight shutouts from Sept. 2-4, 1974. The O's starters in that series in June - Bud Norris, Chris Tillman and Wei-Yin Chen - gave up just one run and 14 hits in 21 innings. * The Orioles are 5-5 against Boston this year. They are 37-28 versus the Red Sox since 2011, the most wins by any American League East team. The Rays are next with 33 wins. Since Sept. 20, 2011, the Orioles are 16-8 at Fenway Park. When Miguel Gonzalez (4-5, 4.56 ERA) faces Jon Lester (9-7, 2.92 ERA) in Game 1 tomorrow, Boston has the edge on paper. Gonzalez has an ERA of 6.14 in three starts since returning from the disabled list while Lester is 3-0 with a 1.21 ERA his last four starts. But also consider these facts: Gonzalez has a record of 13-7 with 3.69 ERA in 30 career starts against the AL East. Also, Lester is 1-4 against the Orioles since starting his career 14-0 versus Baltimore through the 2011 season. In Lester's eight starts against the Orioles since the 2012 season, Boston is 1-7. Bundy tonight: Dylan Bundy made the start for Single-A Frederick tonight at Lynchburg and gave up three runs over 4 2/3 innings against the Hillcats in his fourth outing of the 2014 season. Bundy allowed one run in the second inning to snap a 13-inning scoreless stretch dating back to his first start with short-season, Single-A Aberdeen. Lynchburg scored twice in the fifth to take a 3-1 lead and Bundy was pulled for Jimmy Yacabonis with two outs in that inning. He left down 2-1 but a third run scored on a wild pitch and was charged to his record. Bundy tonight: 4 2/3 innings, four hits, three runs (all earned), 2 walks, 3 strikeouts. In his first three starts for Aberdeen Bundy pitched 15 innings allowing 10 hits and one run with three walks and 22 strikeouts.
