Andino update

BOSTON - Orioles second baseman Robert Andino was sent to a local hospital tonight to undergo a CT scan. The results will be passed along to the media Saturday morning. Andino was drilled in the batting helmet by a 94 mph fastball from Red Sox reliever Mark Melancon in the top of the ninth inning. Andino wanted to stay in the game and walked to first base after taking a few steps toward the mound. Head athletic trainer Richie Bancells and manager Buck Showalter escorted him to the dugout. Andino underwent a concussion test following tonight's 4-2 victory at Fenway Park. The club decided to send him for the CT scan. "I just talked to Robert in there, and if you know Robert like we do, he's not really in the mood," said Showalter. "He wanted to stay in there and is probably as mad at me as anything, but those aren't things that you can mess with. We want to make sure. We'll see what tomorrow brings." Batting ninth tonight, Andino went 2-for-2 with a walk and the HBP. He's batting .213 with seven homers and 26 RBIs. Andino wasn't made available to reporters before leaving the clubhouse.
