Anthony Rendon wins Louisville Slugger Silver Slugger Award

Anthony Rendon was honored as the Louisville Slugger Silver Slugger Award winner for National League third baseman on Thursday night. Louisville Slugger made the announcement on MLB Network.

Rendon, 29, earned his second career Silver Slugger Award after leading all National League third basemen in batting average (.319), on-base percentage (.412), slugging percentage (.598), OPS (1.010), RBI (126), multi-hit games (55), extra-base hits (81) and runs scored (117). His 174 hits and 80 walks both ranked second among National League third basemen.

"The Washington Nationals organization congratulates Anthony on this well-deserved honor," said Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo. "Anthony's outstanding and consistent production speaks for itself and it is only right that he is honored as the top hitting third baseman in the National League."

Rendon earned his first career National League All-Star selection and was named a finalist for the National League Most Valuable Player award after setting career marks and ranking near the top in the entire National League in the majority of categories. According to FanGraphs.com, he ranked second in the National League in Wins Above Replacement (6.8).

During the Postseason, Rendon hit .328 (20-for-61) with seven doubles, three homers, 15 RBI, 11 walks, 10 strikeouts, and 11 runs scored. He recorded a .413 on-base percentage and a .590 slugging percentage while hitting safely in 13 of the 17 games on the way to a World Series championship.
