The short-season Single-A Auburn Doubledays have released their 29-man 2012 opening day roster.
Most of the team was available Thursday for a workout and their mini-camp will continue through the weekend until they open Monday night at Batavia.
Notable pitchers include 2007 Nationals sixth-round pick southpaw Jack McGeary, who is recovering from 2010 elbow surgery, and left-hander Bryan Harper, Bryce's older brother. The roster includes recently signed picks Tony Renda, Brandon Miller and Spencer Kieboom.
As with every season, Auburn manager Gary Cathcart is charged up to get started and knows the task at hand.
"It is always the same feeling for me," Cathcart said. "It is exciting. It is a privilege. I am always excited to get going no matter what level I am at. It is a little different here because you have a whole cast of characters.
"I take a lot of responsibility in making sure these kids learn the professional game. Statistics at this level are not the main focus, it is all about learning how to be a professional. It is about learning how to get ready to play every day. That is a big step for them. We will work them, get them in our program and see what happens from there."
Here is the complete Auburn roster. This year's drafted players will be designated by the round they were selected to the right of their names.
