Can the Orioles slow down the red-hot Blue Jays today? (plus pitching notes)

So the Orioles are trying to snap Toronto's nine-game winning streak today. And they have to beat the Blue Jays in a ballpark where they are 11-37 in their last 48 games since June 8, 2008. Should be no problem, right? A hot baseball team starts to think nothing can go wrong, until something does. Even after falling behind twice by two runs last night, Toronto rallied for the walk-off win, which lit up message boards and twitter. I understand the frustration any time the O's lose and maybe this is just a fact we have to get used to in that a now-winning Orioles team has picked up more fans along the way and they vent when the team loses. But every loss doesn't have to seem like Game 7 of the World Series. In the bigger picture - beyond just last night - the Orioles are 19-11 in their last 30 games and have the most series wins in the majors (16). Since July 29, 2012, the Birds have the best winning percentage (.615) in baseball and are tied with the Athletics for the most wins in baseball (83). That is not a bad picture to look at either. But the Blue Jays right now have the look of a truck running downhill. They are building momentum and feel they'll win every day. Somehow the Orioles have to change that and take the game from them, because right now they probably won't be giving any away. A few pitching notes: * The Orioles bullpen gave up three runs over 2 2/3 innings last night. In the six games before the Toronto series opener, the bullpen had given up just one run over 20 1/3 frames. * While O's starters have produced nine quality starts over the last 15 games, they have none in the last four games while allowing 13 earned runs in 21 innings. An O's starter has thrown 6 1/3 innings or more just once in the last nine games. * Toronto pitchers had allowed 14 runs total while winning eight in a row before giving up six to the O's last night. Toronto bullpen pitchers have now gone 27 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run.
