Corey Patterson's mental mistake

Corey Patterson likely cost the O's a run in the sixth inning at Washington. A run that would have cut the Nats lead in the game to 3-2. Patterson walked and stolen second. When Nick Markakis hit a fly ball to deep center, Patterson strayed off the bag at second and did not tag up. He would have made third easily. The next hitter, Miguel Tejada, hit a routine grounder to short. Washington's infield would not have been playing in with a two-run lead and that would have likely plated Patterson had he been at third. All teams makes mistakes, physical and mental, but the ones the Orioles make seem to stand out with their record at 14-30. Patterson, who in fairness has been solid in the leadoff role, cost the O's with a big mental mistake today at Nats Park.
