De Los Santos to AFL Fall Stars Game; McLouth and Janssen not returning

The Arizona Fall League Fall Stars Game is Saturday at Salt River Fields and high Single-A Potomac manager Tripp Keister will manage the East Division All-Stars.

Keister has guided the Salt River Rafters (10-6) to a first-place showing to begin the fall campaign.

Anthony Rendon, Brian Goodwin, Bryce Harper, Derek Norris, Stephen Strasburg and Drew Storen have represented the Nationals in the event in the recent past.

De Los Santos has struggled a bit to start the AFL season, allowing nine runs in his first four games, but is still a top relief prospect from the right side, and posted a 3.43 ERA in 39 games this season for Double-A Harrisburg. He had a 5.40 ERA in two games with Washington.

The game is Saturday at 8:08 pm. Eastern time and will be broadcast on MLB Network.

* The Nationals have reportedly declined contract options for outfielder Nate McLouth and right-hander Casey Janssen. McLouth would have been paid $6.5 million and Janssen a $7 million for the 2016 campaign. Instead, Janssen gets a $1.5 million buyout and McLouth a $750,000 buyout.

McLouth did not play in 2015 due to ongoing recovery from shoulder surgery. He signed a two-year, $10.75 million deal two winters ago to be the team's fourth outfielder, but slashed only .173/.230/.287 before a shoulder injury interrupted his 2014 campaign.

Janssen had an up-and-down 2015 season, appearing in 48 games with a 4.95 ERA. His finesse style never solidified the eighth-inning role as a replacement for Tyler Clippard, which was the hope at the beginning of the season.
