Nationals recall Luis García

The Washington Nationals recalled infielder Luis García from Triple-A Rochester and placed infielder Starlin Castro on the Restricted List on Wednesday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

García, 21, batted .319/ .396/ .553 in 11 games in the month of June, prior to his promotion. He was named Triple-A East Player of the Week on June 7. García went 11-for-27 (.407) with a double, three home runs, nine RBI, and seven runs in six games from May 31-June 6.

This marks García's third Major League stint with the Nationals this season. He has gone 2-for-12 (.167) with a triple, a walk and two runs scored in nine games across the first two stints.

Castro, 31, hit .239 with 11 doubles, two home runs, 23 RBI, 17 walks and 14 runs scored in 63 games for the Nationals prior to being placed on the Restricted List.
