Fister fans two, allows a run in Nats spring debut

VIERA, Fla. - Doug Fister's first spring inning as a Washington National couldn't have gone much better. His second wasn't quite as smooth, but he still completed a solid Nats spring training debut. Fister struck out two and got a pop-up to short in the first inning, breezing through the top of the Marlins order, and then allowed two hits, a walk and a run in the second. He'll exit today's game having thrown 30 pitches, 19 for strikes. Fister got Matt Angle looking at a called strike three to start the game, and then got Donovan Solano, brother of Nationals catcher Jhonatan, swinging through a third strike. In the second, Marcell Ozuna walked leading off the inning, and after he was erased on a smoothly-turned 4-6-3 double play started by Jeff Kobernus, Derek Dietrich doubled and Reed Johnson's bloop single to shallow center got the Marlins on the board. Chris Young enters the game to work the third inning for the Nats. The Nationals took an early lead in the bottom of the first when Ian Desmond reached on a wild pitch on the third strike, stole second and then came around on Wilson Ramos' RBI single to left. Desmond has only played five innings this spring, but he already has two stolen bases. Looks like we'll see much more action on the basepaths from the Nats under Matt Williams this season.
