NEW YORK - Hello from Citi Field, where it's about 30 degrees colder than it was yesterday at SunTrust Park in suburban Atlanta. It's going to be quite chilly out there for the series opener between the Nationals and Mets, and that's not what you ideally want for a team dealing with several minor leg injuries.
With that in mind, several regulars are not in tonight's starting lineup: Trea Turner (who has been activated off the disabled list), Jayson Werth (groin), Ryan Zimmerman and Matt Wieters. Yeah, it's not going to be the "A" lineup tonight, though Daniel Murphy is back after getting scratched last night with leg tightness.
Tanner Roark gets the start for the Nationals, looking to continue his dominance of the Mets. The right-hander is 6-2 with a 2.47 ERA in 15 games (nine starts) against them in his career. Jacob deGrom was supposed to start for New York, but he's been scratched with a stiff neck and pushed back to Saturday's game. So instead it'll be Matt Harvey, still pitching on regular rest. The Dark Knight had dominated the Nats during the first three years of his career, then last year he was rocked to the tune of an 0-3 record and 9.53 ERA before suffering his season-ending injury.
