Lindstrom's rehab continues with GCL team

Orioles reliever Matt Lindstrom pitched another inning today with the Gulf Coast League team in Sarasota. Used again as the starter, he allowed one run and two hits, walked none and struck out one. Lindstrom tossed a scoreless first inning on Monday. Lindstrom, on the disabled list with a slightly torn ligament in his right middle finger, is expected to continue his rehab assignment at Double-A Bowie. The Orioles are hopeful that he'll be activated before the All-Star break, which would require another 25-man roster move. Lindstrom hasn't pitched since May 10, when he allowed his first two earned runs in 13 appearances. He posted a 1.29 ERA in 14 innings, with four walks and 14 strikeouts, before going on the disabled list. Transferring Lindstrom to Bowie would just be the latest transaction in the Orioles' system this year. I believe that they've exceeded 250 roster moves, which would be more than twice as many as any other team in baseball. But who's counting? The Virginian-Pilot's Bob Molinaro reported that left-hander Rich Rundles was the 59th player to appear in a game for Triple-A Norfolk this season. The franchise record is 63, set in 1998 and 2001, so it's going to be shattered. Outfielder Jai Miller was transferred from Norfolk to Bowie on June 15, three days after he appeared in his last game with the Tides. He's on the Baysox's roster, but he still hasn't reported. I'm told he's expected to arrive on Friday. Miller batted .190/.296/.391 with nine doubles, eight homers and 21 RBIs in 51 games with Norfolk. He struck out 93 times in 174 at-bats. Left-hander Dontrelle Willis also is on Bowie's roster, but at last check, he was still throwing at the Ed Smith Stadium complex in Sarasota. He pitched in a simulated game on Thursday, going the first four innings while continuing his transformation from starter to lefty specialist to starter again. While I'm down on the farm, I'll mention that Sean McAdams, selected in the 14th round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft, replaced Lindstrom today and retired the side in order in the second inning. He struck out two. Shortstop Adrian Marin, taken in the third round, has an RBI double for the GCL Orioles.
