Machado officially activated

Orioles 2010 first-round draft pick Manny Machado today has been officially activated off the disabled list and is in uniform for Single-A Delmarva against West Virginia. He has been out since May 5 with a left knee injury. Machado injured his left knee on May 5 against Asheville and was placed on the disabled list on May 7, retroactive to May 6. He has missed the last 29 Shorebirds games recovering from the injury. In 25 games, he was batting .333 (30-90) with 20 runs scored, six doubles, five home runs and 21 RBIs. Machado was honored by the Orioles as the minor league Player of the Month in April. He batted .338 with four home runs and 18 RBIs over the month. The Shorebirds went 14-15 without Machado. The Orioles also announced officially today that infielder Jonathan Schoop has been promoted to Single-A Frederick. Through 51 games, Schoop batted .316 for the Shorebirds with a team high eight home runs and 34 RBIs. Also, Mike Rooney was transferred from Frederick to Delmarva. Right-handed pitcher Parker Bridwell has been transferred to the Short Season Single-A Aberdeen roster. Bridwell, the O's ninth-round pick last June, will likely return to Delmarva to make his next start or two. He could wind up in Aberdeen's rotation when the IronBirds' season starts on June 17. Bridwell made his Shorebirds' debut last night and gave up five runs over 4 2/3 against Hickory.
