Mark Trumbo agrees to terms on contract

The Orioles' list of arbitration-eligible players is down to seven.

Mark Trumbo has agreed to terms on a $9.15 million contract for the 2016 season, according to an industry source.

The Orioles acquired Trumbo and left-hander C.J. Riesenhauser from the Mariners on Dec. 2 for catcher Steve Clevenger. Trumbo, who turns 30 on Saturday, made $6.9 million this year while batting a combined .262/.310/.449 with 23 doubles, 22 home runs and 64 RBIs in 142 games with the Diamondbacks and Mariners.

The Orioles prefer his defense at first base over the outfield.

Negotiations on new contracts continue with the representatives for Brad Brach, Zach Britton, Ryan Flaherty, Miguel Gonzalez, Manny Machado, Brian Matusz and Chris Tillman. The sides will exchange figures on Friday if agreements aren't reached, and hearings will be set up beginning next month.

The Orioles signed two other arbitration-eligible players, pitcher Vance Worley and outfielder Nolan Reimold, on Dec. 2. They non-tendered infielder Paul Janish and outfielder David Lough.

Janish agreed to terms on a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. His contract includes an opt-out clause.

ESPN.com first reported Trumbo's deal.
