MASN will air six Orioles exhibition games (with notes attached)

With Orioles pitchers and catchers set to report Feb. 12, it's time to reveal which spring training games can be viewed from the comfort of your home or favorite watering hole. Perhaps you're lucky enough to have a television at work and an understanding boss. MASN HD will televise six exhibition games, all from Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota, beginning with the Monday, Feb. 25 clash with the New York Yankees at 1 p.m. Yes, it's a rematch of the American League Division Series. The gloves come off - except when each team is in the field. Maybe Nate McLouth will pull a ball to the right of the foul pole and it will be called fair. MASN HD also will air the Thursday, March 7 game against the Toronto Blue Jays at 1 p.m.; the Thursday, March 14 game against the Tampa Bay Rays at 1 p.m.; the Sunday, March 17 game against the Minnesota Twins at 1 p.m.; the Saturday, March 23 game against the Philadelphia Phillies at 1 p.m.; and the Wednesday, March 27 game against the Yankees at 7 p.m. The afternoon games will be replayed at 7 p.m., in case you don't have a television at work and an understanding boss. Notes: The Orioles and OriolesREACH today announced plans for a three-day, four-city caravan around Maryland that will include appearances by executive vice president Dan Duquette, manager Buck Showalter and several Orioles players. On Wednesday, Jan. 16, pitchers Brian Matusz and Kevin Gausmann will appear at the William Talley Recreation Center at 121 North Bentz St. in Frederick, home of the Single-A Frederick Keys, to meet with children from the Police Athletic League and the Frederick Boys and Girls Club, signing autographs and playing games with the children from 4 p.m.-5:30 p.m. The event is open to the public and there is no charge to attend. On Thursday, Jan. 17, pitchers Zach Britton and Chris Tillman will appear at the Westfield Annapolis Mall at 2002 Jennifer Rd. from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. to sign autographs, pose for photos with children and take part in question and answer sessions with fans in the JC Penney Concourse. A raffle to benefit the Bowie Health Center will take place as part of the event that is free and open to the public. Also on Jan. 17, Showalter will serve as the keynote speaker at the Aberdeen Ironbirds' Hot Stove Dinner at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Pitchers Jim Johnson will join Showalter at the event. On Saturday, Jan. 26, Duquette will serve as the keynote speaker for the 12th Annual Delmarva Shorebirds Hot Stove Dinner at the Delmar VFW at 200 West State St. in Delmar from 5 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Tickets for the dinner are $33 and are available at www.theshorebirds.com. Proceeds from the dinner will benefit the Delmarva Shorebirds Community Fund and the United Way of the Eastern Shore. And finally, center fielder Adam Jones will join the Y of Central Maryland for "A Monument to Greatness" tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Friday, Jan. 18 at the Weinberg Family Center Y at 900 East 33rd St. in Baltimore. Jones and MLK Foundation President and CEO Harry E. Johnson will speak at the breakfast, which will run from 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Tickets to the event are available at www.ymaryland.org and proceeds will benefit Y programs for vulnerable youths in Baltimore.
