Max Scherzer continues Nats pitching attack; Aaron Barrett to DL (with lineups)

The Nationals send ace Max Scherzer to the mound looking to claim a series win in the finale this afternoon against the Rockies. Scherzer is aiming for his first win at Nationals Park since throwing his no-hitter against the Pirates on June 20. The right-hander didn't get a decision in the Nats' 5-4 win over Arizona on Tuesday night when he allowed three runs on four hits and three walks with nine strikeouts over six innings.

Rockies left-hander Yohan Flande is making just his third start of the season. The 29-year-old has been used mostly out of the bullpen. In 10 innings across his two starts, Flande has yielded three runs with seven strikeouts.

Bryce Harper enters today's game leading the majors in batting average (.337), slugging percentage (.633) and OPS (1.128). He's also tops in the National League with 29 home runs and 76 runs scored while ranking sixth with 69 RBIs, 12 behind Colorado's Nolan Arenado.

The Nationals have voided Aaron Barrett's option and placed him on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow sprain, retroactive to August 6.
