Mesa keeps winning, plus Moore update

The Mesa Solar Sox have a good roll going, winning their last three games. On Wednesday, the Solar Sox won 11-2 over Glendale, highlighted by seven runs in the sixth. Derek Self (1-0) notched his first win of the Arizona Fall League season, going two innings, scattering three hits, one walk and allowing just one run. Self now has an ERA of 1.29. Self tossed 36 pitches, 23 for strikes, in facing 10 batters. On Thursday, Mesa dropped first-place Salt River 4-2. Spencer Kieboom contributed an RBI single and also had a walk. Tony Renda added a run. Kieboom is batting .310. Renda started a 4-6-3 twin killing. Mesa is 14-10-1 with a three-game winning streak and is only 2 1/2 games behind the Rafters for first place in the division. The Solar Sox are the league leaders in team batting average (.278) and OPS (.759). In the Dominican Winter League, Nationals first baseman Tyler Moore is continuing to excel, batting .340 with five homers and 12 RBIs. He has scored 16 runs and has 32 total bases. His 1.165 OPS is second only to Andy Marte (1.293) in the entire league. He has also drawn 14 walks, best in the winter league. His five round-trippers are also the best so far in Dominican play.
